Environmental Compliance

This page describes our efforts to comply with various environmental laws and regulations.

RoHS* Compliant

Adopted by the European Union (EU) in 2003 and in effect since July 2006, the RoHS Directive prohibits the sale of electrical and electronic equipment, including household appliances and IT equipment such as personal computers, containing certain hazardous substances within the EU.

RoHSCompliant

When the law first came into force, it covered six substances: lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and certain brominated flame retardants (polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs)).
In July 2019, phthalate esters (di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), butylbenzyl phthalate (BBP), di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), and diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)) will be added to the existing six substances as specified hazardous substances, bringing the total to 10 substances. We have already completed compliance with the 10 substances for all products subject to the RoHS Directive from July 2019.
In addition to the RoHS Directive, we also comply with similar laws and regulations in other regions.

J-Moss

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has revised the Law for Promotion of Effective Utilization of Resources and made it a law to label products according to J-Moss (JIS C 0950) as of July 2006.
J-Moss is a Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) that specifies the method for labeling electrical and electronic equipment as containing six specific chemical substances: lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)), PBB, and PBDE.J-Moss requires that seven designated products, including PCs (including monitors) and televisions, be labeled with the Green Mark if they do not contain any of the specified chemical substances (below the standard levels) and with the Inclusion Mark if they do (above the standard levels).
An overview of J-Moss can be found on the JEITA website.

J-Moss Green mark

G

The J-Moss Green mark indicates that the content rate of specified chemical substances is below the standard value. All of our monitor products (FlexScan, ColorEdge, FORIS, RadiForce and DuraVision (except some embedded/special purpose models)) released after July 2006 are J-Moss Green mark compliant.
