EIZO's Longstanding Eye-Care Technologies Pivotal in Its Monitors Acquiring Flicker-Free and Low Blue Light Content Certification

Hakusan, Japan, March 11, 2015 – EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737), today announced that all ten models in its FlexScan EV series of monitors have been certified by TÜV Rheinland, a leading global certification body, as being flicker-free and having low blue light content. The FlexScan EV (EcoView) series combines visual ergonomics with ecological considerations for use in business environments such as trading rooms and back offices.

TUVIn awarding EIZO this certification, TÜV Rheinland commended EIZO for including features with its monitors that reduce eyestrain by allowing for wide-ranging adjustment of the brightness and color temperature. In particular, TÜV Rheinland cited three longstanding eye-care technologies developed by EIZO: Fine Contrast, Paper Mode, and Auto EcoView.

Fine Contrast is the moniker that EIZO gives to the selection of preset modes included with FlexScan monitors since 2000. Each Fine Contrast mode comes with optimal brightness, contrast ratio, and color temperature settings for viewing different kinds of content such as documents, web sites, and video.

Paper Mode is a Fine Contrast preset that simulates the look of printed paper. Its low color temperature results in reduced blue light to alleviate eye strain. Paper Mode has been included with Fine Contrast since 2010.
Auto EcoView is a built-in sensor that detects the ambient brightness and automatically adjusts the screen to the ideal brightness. Auto EcoView has been a standard feature since 2003.

When LED became the predominant type of backlight used with LCD monitors, EIZO developed its own technology to counter the flicker that many peoples see with these backlights. Since 2012, EIZO has equipped its FlexScan EV series with this technology to ensure flicker-free viewing even at the minimum brightness level which for some models is a mere1 cd/m2.

Stefan Hartter, Head of Calibration and Maintenance at TÜV Rheinland Japan, commented, "We have measured EIZO FlexScan EV Series monitors with different brightness levels and display modes (blue-light strength, wavelength, etc.). We confirmed that the FlexScan EV Series is truly flicker-free and provides eye-pleasing images even in low-brightness environments."
