EIZO Introduces Real-Time Image Optimization Systems for Security & Surveillance, Infrastructure Maintenance, and Image Analysis

Hakusan, Japan, July 29, 2021 – EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced the DuraVision EVS1VX and EVS1VS image optimization systems for improving visibility for security & surveillance, infrastructure maintenance, and image analysis video footage in real time.

Visual verification of live and recorded camera footage has become pivotal for crime prevention, infrastructure monitoring, product defect detection, scientific image analysis, and numerous other scenarios. However, video is not always clearly visible due to factors outside of the operator’s control, which may increase the risk for human error or negatively impact operational efficiency. The DuraVision EVS1VX and EVS1VS connect to a camera, recorder, or other image output device via HDMI and process incoming video content to make it easier for operators to distinguish important information, as well as facilitate image analysis in AI-enhanced systems.

The EVS1VX and EVS1VS are powered by EIZO’s cutting-edge Visibility Optimizer X and Visibility Optimizer technologies1 respectively, which analyze and adjust images pixel-by-pixel in real time without altering the source data. They detect areas that are difficult to see due to low lighting conditions, atmospheric haze, and other environmental conditions and adjust the brightness of each pixel to increase visibility of the scene. This is useful not only for surveillance at night or in foggy conditions, but also for detecting irregularities or cracks in surfaces, such as concrete.

The EVS1VS uses 2D noise reduction to filter out unnatural block formations in images. The EVS1VX combines both 2D and 3D noise reduction2 functions to improve clarity in contours and help distinguish objects in video, particularly for nighttime surveillance. 3D noise reduction is effective when monitoring static video, while 2D noise reduction is optimal for video that captures motion or has scene changes.

The EVS1VX improves visibility in images dominated by a single color2. It addresses colors with little variation in brightness to make them easier to distinguish. This is particularly effective when analyzing endoscopic and pathological images, or for detecting objects in underwater images.

In addition to all features included with the standard model, EVS1VS, the EVS1VX has more advanced control over image processing, and allows operators to more effectively tailor the parameters according to the scene displayed. It also allows users to custom select a specific area of the screen to apply image enhancement for maintaining focus on regions of interest.

The EVS1VX is the first image optimization system in the industry to allow operators to capture stills from any enhanced scene and save them directly to a USB flash drive2. Captured stills inherit currently set image enhancements so they can be used for secondary review or for investigative purposes. This feature is also useful for tracking damages in infrastructure, such as roads and piers, defects in product manufacturing, and for law enforcement investigation.

The EVS1VX can register up to 10 display modes, including custom modes which users can fine-tune to suit specific viewing environments and situations. Users can delist unused display modes so operators can switch though each mode more quickly.

Additional Features

  • HDMI input x 2, HDMI output
  • Ethernet, USB Type-A3 x 2, USB Type-B
  • Numeric keypad compatible
  • 24-hour, 2-year manufacturer’s warranty
